And I thought nothing was happening

Saturday, February 23, 2008

All you happy bloggers, good work. I enjoyed reading your posts. Am glad to see that your rooms have got more character since the exercise in class last week, or the week before, as it may have been. Hey, but grammar, spellings and punctuation?

Ok, this is what - oh no, not my room - I've been working on. Rapping up a Shakespeare sonnet. It's just the initial version, and only part of the sonnet, but I like the way it's going. After the tests are over, we'll go back to that exercise. Right. More - as the saying goes -in person!

•When I be alone
and got me
time to think,
I call me
up a taxi,
to run me
to the past,
but
it come loaded
with the nigga
of who I was before.
And that nigga,
he look at me
and he pull
the trigger.

I’m alone, I got me weepin
cause I shoulda
done that thing
then.

The Colorless Room

Well, not really. Its just that, when we were bombarded with the room description, I suddenly realised that I couldn't remember the colors myself, which probably speaks a lot about my attachment with it. Anyway, its a small room cramped with an assortment of mismatching furniture and me tottering atop the overflowing study table. There used to be a chair actually. A trim, sassy one, who saw it fit to divorce me once I had accidentally relieved her of her right leg. I was heartbroken, ofcourse, but no one is irreplaceable and i've found my new muse in a sturdy cardboard box, stationed before the computer. The rusted steel almirah (which is much older than me), seems to mock at my insignificance, as I cower in its shadow covering half the room. But, like the most hard-pressed prisoner of war, there is a little silver lining which sustains me as the space (or, the lack of it) tries to squash me down. The crows make flight over the eastern horizons everyday and chained though I am within these infernal walls, the sight of their flight through the joined double windows, flames my spirit along.

P.S.: I publish this, being fully aware of the fact that it is the purest form of crap. - Anindita.

Roshni 's room....
My room is open to everyone.(Cant do antything about that really cause i don't have a lock) Anyways its a great room and i wouldn't trade it with anyone! It' s my "PRESHess'.Its more os less tidy with bare walls with a poster or two.Ok im being extreme but till last year, one could barely tell the wall was white. All four corners were dedicated to harry potter, LOTR, the Matrix, Linkin park,Eminem,D12 did i metion EMINEM , Tom Cruise ,Pirates of the Caribbean, harley Davidsons , Mercedes, the Maclaren and Ferrari No1 s ,Orlando bloom etc etc ..and now its got a new paint job :S so its just HEdwig, JOhnny Depp and Schumi with me ;along with a long expired calendar, and magazine pictuers of Adam Brody and another of Gareth Gates lol -These are fixed to a metal cupboard with magnets and are two out of what seems like..well ..a lot. The're all highlights of my life from childhood to graduation, and all my dog; right now i am out of magnets so haven updated it yet.
My favourite place is probably where i am right now.. in front of the Harry Potter poster; but more importantly in front of the computer, and next to my bed on one side and drums on the other.
I almost forget how it used to look but i remember that it was filled to the brim, with all sorts of things, including a very , well lets just say "naughty" toy witch tied to the cieling(now outside). Now that i have written this,I have a good mind to bring back the lost character of my dear sweet room.
So until i get a lock, your welcome anytime!

Will the real owner please stand up?

Being my first blog for PYEC i have taken quite a lot of time to type this(however fast my brain cells crawled!)Do have the patience to read it..(ofcourse you will, wont you?)The reason i gave it this title is cause I really don't understand whose room it is... My father always forgets to mention to our guests the co-owner of the arena, they generally assume I live in my garage(no,i really don't) .I share my room with my grandmother(thanks to my Noctiphobia shhh its a secret) My(our) room basically is painted sky blue (no I’m not a boy) but let me warn u different shades of blue(thanks to my dad who wanted to cover every mark my dog scratched on the wall) The wall has an equal share of posters of “idols",only problem being my grandmother does not consider my idol hers too(what a pity!)The door has a poster of Dennis the menace which perfectly describes the state of my room except for when my grand mother's blood pressure reaches its peak........the room transforms into a little less wacky condition then! My bathroom tiles are blue dolphins, the funny aspect being they are all inverted(nobody really notices, thank god!) also, you are sure to understand my style of dressing as i guarantee you will step on two or more clothes if u haven’t warned me before coming home... my(our) room also consists of switchboards, tubelights, fan, cupboards and most importantly the co-owner ME!

Hello everybody!

Since you all painfully listened to my description of the room I used to inhabit when I was in Dubai in class last week (as in, you listened to it last week, I wasn't in Dubai last week, bozos), today you'll get a sneak peak at my room over here in good ol' Bengaluru! :)

Well, I live in an apartment in a lovely area called Malleshwaram, full of old families and young kids. We stay in our own apartment, which my family has had for quite a while now, so basically, its home. My door is off white, and it used to have a rectangular wooden plank on it, which my name on it written with nails... what I mean is that the nails were hammered in to spell my name, and my brother made this for me when he was in 8th or so. Now it's not there any more, it kind of fell down. Anyway, when you enter, you'll see a rectangular room (to your left, that is) and immediately on your left is a large black chest of drawers and a mirror above it... that's my dressing table. Directly opposite is a large light brown desk (which was one of the many things we shipped from Dubai to re-furnish this old apartment that we love). Now this desk, I love very much, not because I chose it myself, but because there's always place on it. But, it gets clattered up quite fast, with everything from foot cream to ironed clothes (and books, of course, it's a desk, isn't it) lying on it for weeks on end. I am currently sitting at my desk, actually, as my computer is on it (now everyone knows why I'm online 24/7), and it's my favourite place to be in my room. My chair is a hard one, and its RED with holes in it. In fact, its so hard, that I have to sit on a pillow on it. But it has brilliant back support! ;)

I have a window just off my desk, which is always covered by the curtain, cause its too much of a bother to keep drawing the curtain when I change. I also have a calender with adorable animals on the top (right now, its a kitten sleeping, its soo cuute! :D). Right next to the window are three glass shelves with photos of my family, friends, and of course, of me (you will never find me in a room without photos of me in it.) The pinboard next to it (which is a necessity for me in whatever room I occupy) has a mini poster of Jon Bon Jovi waring tight leather pants and snakeskin boots and a sleeveless vest, crouching on a mountain giving a thumbs up sign, and smiling ever so divinely while his hair blows back due to the wind... (drool)

Ok, I'm back. On the pinboard, too, is my timetable, and lots of pins and badges, and a little photo of me again (I'm vain, ok?). Below the pinboard is a small bookshelf of books that I've already read (it's kind overflowing) since I've come to Bangalore. My toilet (with horrible green tiles) is right next to the board. This toilet, mind you, never worked till last year, when my mother had it specially fixed for me. Can I just mention that my brother lived in my room before I stole it from him? =D Nehoo, right above the door to the toilet is a little banner that says 'Chicago Bulls'. I'm no big fan of theirs (hey, everyone loves Michael Jordan), but it looks very cool, so I keep it.

Wait, I never mentioned what's on the other side of my desk! Ah, my bed! It's another thing that I'm particularly proud of, as I picked it up myself. It's white, with brown draws below it to store bedsheets etc. My covers are Orange and White (oh, its so happy!) and it has a little side table attatched to my bed (I love it so!). On the wall which my bed leans against, is two posters, one of the band Bon Jovi (which I see whenever I wake up and just before I sleep), and of course, of my favourite footballer, Raul Gonzales in his Real Madrid uniform. Both these posters are so ragged and very much torn; you can tell they've been through a lot (just for me!! :D). Oh I also have another calender, from Giordano. This is sort of a tradition for me - every year I take the Gio poster (which comes free in the newspaper) and pin it up on my wall, with all the important days and dates marked. As it is from Dubai, the weekends are marked as Friday and Saturday, but I don't really care (who would?).

Ok, so if I were to lie down on my bed, just above my head is the double window and a window sill (where I keep my phone, etc). This window is a big problem, actually... In the evenings and nights, when I switch on my tube light, the bees from a nearby hive always land up on my window mesh, buzzing away like theres no tomorrow, demanding an entry to the light of their dreams. It gets really bugging, especially when you're terrified of bees, like I am. Next to the door that leads to my little balcony (where I dry my clothes), is a plastic sheet which has all sorts of family photos, and I love just staring at it when I feel a little low or sad, it makes me feel happy.

Now, my room wouldn't be complete without a little mess! (make that a lot of mess.) I have a clothes rack, which is meant for my pajamas, but after one week, my entire wardrobe ends up on that little rack. It's quite disgusting, actually. And the bookshelf next to that has giftwrapping paper and files and books that I haven't seen for more than 3 months! It's a bit scary, now that I think about it. And of course, in the centre of it all, is my beautiful, RED acoustic guitar. It gets dusty very quickly, and if I dont tune it for three days, it sounds like a hurt toad, but it's still beautiful, even after 5 years. Sniff.

So, that's my room! :) I think I'm going to do a Sonal and post a picture of it, too. Sorry if I bored you guys! :)

Wait, I also have a poster of a Cheetah in motion above my mirror. I love that poster... I bought it in Gangarams 6 years ago. Hoo boy. :)

NOTE: I have a problem with sticking to the word limit.

I would love to describe my dream room to you but since I don't think I'm allowed to do that here I will have to just stick to describing the room that I presently call my own(or rather would love to if it were not for a fourteen year old homo-sapien who insists she is my sister).
Firstly the door to my room is forever locked. It always takes a great deal of banging to get me to open the door to this shrine and therefore the room door does not have words like 'your presence in this room is not preferred' written on it. The first thing you see on entering my room is a poster of a big, fat baby with the words 'Do you wanna coochie-coo me?' written above the baby. This poster has not yet failed to bring a smile. The only time it came close to not bringing a smile was when my friends came over to my house on my birthday to give it(that day I almost died of a heart attack).Well,a major part of my room is occupied by the bed. The bed has two pillows dividing it so that my sister has no doubts about her section on the bed. After a not-so-violent fight a couple of weeks back the bed has begun to have the tendency to swing in all directions whenever anyone decides to use it for any other purpose other than slowly(and very gently) lying down on it.
A word that aptly describes my room is 'messy'. There are books, clothes, papers everywhere. In order to sit you have to shift the clothes from the chair on to my bed.If you want to sit on my bed then you have to shift both the clothes and the books from my bed and place it on my table.Among all this mess you might or might not succeed to find a stereo player which I recieved as a gift when I turned thirteen-that very important age when 'I'm a barbie girl' is every teenager’s anthem. You will also find a backstreet boys poster(another gift from my friends, I swear) which I choose to leave untouched because it has a lot of emotional value.
On my table(under a pile of books, most of them which do not belong to me and have not belonged to me since I borrowed them when I was but a child) you will see a jewellery box. This is yet another gift which has failed to realize its purpose. It contains everything but jewellery. It has chewing gum, old school badges, passport size photos, earphones, christmas santa notes, etc. Another interesting feature of my room would have to be the feng-shui articles. There is a pyramid which is supposed to face a certain direction and bring good luck(I think). As of now it serves as a place for many of my things which are not meant to be seen by anyone. Then there is full-length mirror which again is meant to bring luck(I think) but now serves as a shelter for lizards who have lost their parents in near freakish accidents( I guess they should have seen that broom coming).
My room might not be the most interesting or best designed room in the world(or bangalore or even raheja park) but I like my room for what it is.The Britney Spears poster hidden behind the baby's poster, the pyramid made of matchsticks gathering dust on top of my cupboard, the old apron(stitched in 6th grade) stuck behind the computer table drawer all hold meaning to me(in a very strange way)(a very very strange way). And though I crib that I would love to move to Australia, own a beach house of my own and employ my sister to wash my porsche everyday, deep down I would never want leave my room.

My room! :o)

Warning : It might include a lot of things that Shilpa's room does! It is purely coincidental. =)

Ah! My room. So you open the door of which the doorknob is very very doubtful, it might just come off infact, you see two beds. And then you notice everything.

In the right corner of the room, you can see two cupboards.. the grey one being mine.
Then the left has a very full clothes stand, you barely can see the stand itself. Next to you, there will be another cupboard and a diwan. Placed a little high on the wall on the top of the diwan, is one small mirror with a drawer sort of thing and to right of that a prayer shelf with all of the God's pictures etc. So, if you sit on the diwan, you have risk of banging into either of these things. That is, if you find place on the diwan. It is full of bags, laptop, my new calvin and hobbes collection(yes, the complete collection and yes, I'm serious!), and so many other things.

What is left is the wall.. filled with posters! One side is all the SHMO campaign posters, the other side has a very nice poster saying attitude is everything in life and shows four attitudes with the help of beer mugs. The same wall also has a big poster showing one fine day on M.G Road, quite hilarious. Also, the wall has some small hangings put up by our PG lady(you can barely see them now thanks to the posters, she wasnt quite pleased).

Our bathroom door, let me first mention, cannot close. So, always warn the people outside that you're going to the loo to avoid scarring of their childhood. :) It also, interestingly, has holes on top. First, we were thinking it was for ventilation but now we think that our PG lady might have hung her husband there and shot him(our PG lady is a trained rifle shooter :), SERIOUSLY). Moving on to the inside of my bathroom, there's not much really. It is very tiny, so you can pretty much just bend uncomfortably.

That's more or less my room. Hope you managed to get through the whole thing.. or did you?

A princess from fairy land is what i feel like in my "pink city"!!A place to grind my brains, unwind my soul and relax my body is my cute little room. Not only is everything around pink but it also keeps me "in the pink".:)
Now gear up in pink, accelerate in glee and go on a tour in the place you wish to be.:)
Knock knock!!
Your ticket through the white door into the room is a heart felt "Khush rulz"!!:)On the wall opposite the door is a diagnol striped wall-dark pink and light pink that gives you a bling feeling. On this wall you will admire and appreciate my artistic skills as you see a beautifully designed collage of my journey through life.:)Mind blown by this you will want to know what more is in store for you.
The rest of the room is painted plain pink.On the left side of the door is a big window and a door connecting to room to the balcony. The balcony is a beautiful place to relax on a moonlit sky.:)Opposite this is another plain wall against which is a small cupboard filled with untouched 1st and 2nd sem books.:)On this you will meet swimming kuchi and poo.:)Next to this you will see a stereo system that was gifted to me on my 13th bday-welcoming the teens and low-waist jeans.:)Before kuchi and poo my buddies were ujj and mills but sadly they took my leave two months back.Next to this wall is a niche on walking into which on the right you will see 2 brown cupbaords.Don't try getting into it you will die of a heart attack by seeing the mess in there.Opposite my cupboards is my bathroom.
Anywhere you stand in my room, you will feel the wind blowing through your beautiful mane as there are empty sites all around my house.:)The sad bit of this is I have nobody to sing"mere saamne wali khidki mein"to..;)
Against the striped wall is a black bean bag which was gifted to the star by star gold.:)Next to it is my plush bed that is the culprit for the days i miss college.:)Next to the bed you will find Einstein's best buddy but my best enemy-an ancient study table.:)If you relax from a hectic day at college or a PSDed mood swung hour, you can drop by and unwind your spirits "in the PINK"!!:)

I know, I know, I havent written in a long time but it was only cause I had to balance being both busy and lazy:D okies, I'll stop with the chit-chat and get straight down to business, as the topic subtly hints im going to describe my room but I'll take it a step further and describe the room I currently haunt as somehow my old room seems like a hazy dream.. (also it'll save time as this room is much smaller!)

I'll begin by describing it, its got white tiles and a white wall filled with God's pictures and posters of the SHMO campaign, also a huge poster describing a day in M.G road, beneath this poster we have put up another poster which describes the 4 different attitudes on life with the help of beer mugs. we have two cupboards, a diwan which no one can use because of the fact that theres a tiny dresser on top of it on one side and on the other side of the diwan theres a holy shrine so therefore, me and Mona have given up trying to sit on it unless we wanted to bang our heads hard, now it just overflows with all the crap we dont have space for. We have an attached bathroom which is so tiny even a mouse would be cramped let alone me AND Mona but it is the bathroom door that is interesting, it has holes shaped like a dartboard which a sensible person might argue was for ventilation purposes but we are convinced that our pg lady (who has had rifle training) probably killed someone (the last pg?) with a gun!
Right next to the bathroom we have the shoe stand filled with our collection of jimmy choos (not) and in between two cupboards we have a hole in the wall( pg lady does not know) which symbolifies our glorious internet connection, literally!(the wire for the modem comes from the terrace). We have two single beds put together only separated by Mona's soft toys and cushions:P on the foot of the beds lies a massive bean bag, 2 laundry baskets and a small shelf with our study material completing the space and look of the whole room. A poster of my star sign and a calender adorn my cupboard while her cupboard has a poster of an upside down, fat baby (no wonder aunty complains about too many posters, I just realised how many there were!)
Anyone can come into the room as because of Sanjana and Shubangi, the door knob has been ripped apart from the handle (twice!) :D

Thats about it actually, hope I didnt bore you too much, I have to go watch Lizzie Maguire now so ta-ta!
